The FIRST Robotics program aims to inspire students to pursue careers in STEM by
providing engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Middle and high school students come to UConn Waterbury to prepare for FIRST Robotics Competitions, working alongside UConn undergraduate mentors to build both technical and teamwork skills.
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) prepares young people for the future through a suite of inclusive, team-based robotics programs for ages 4-18 (PreK-12). Participants conduct research, fundraise, design, build, and showcase their achievements. The sports-style challenges build self-confidence and collaborative problem-solving skills and have a lasting impact on STEM engagement and learning.
